It is a tradition for cadets to view their days at the Academy as counting down from the time they enter.

Cadet Classification	Description
Cadet 4th Class	Freshmen, with four years ahead of them at the Academy, are called "fourth year" cadets (aka C4C, doolies, 4º, 4 degrees, 4 digs, smacks).
Cadet 3rd Class	Sophomores with three years are "third year" cadets till the big day, hence, C3C & 3º.
Cadet 2nd Class	Juniors, called "second year" cadets have two years left, hence, C2C or 2º.
Cadet 1st Class	Seniors have one year till graduation, & are thus called "first year" cadets, C1C, 1º, & firsties.
